Moving to change - Mooncult

Moving to change

30-day residency, 5 European artists, a place steeped in memories, a collective ritual

“Moving to change” stems from mooncult’s experience in developing innovative processes in the relationship between artists and communities. It was born in collaboration with Corte Ospitale, in the shared belief that artistic residencies can be places of innovation of practices, spaces where, through the creative process, it is possible to cross territories and create generative changes. With this project we have gone a step further, treasuring the place that Corte Ospitale is: an ancient hospice for pilgrims from the 16th century, located in Rubiera (Italy), a town of 15 thousand inhabitants. For 30 days, from Sept. 24 to Oct. 24, 2024, Corte Ospitale hosted 4 artists and 1 performing arts curator, selected from all over Europe through a call for applications. Through a month-long residency, the artists shared their practices, got to know each other and built a lasting bond with the inhabitants of Rubiera. The dialogue between artists and inhabitants was conceived in an intercultural and intergenerational perspective to narrate, through performing arts, a place perceived as cultural heritage and to find a new sense of belonging, new perspectives and worldviews.
